A day with the sea

Today at 8:15 in the morning, I had my last exam for the semester. To celebrate, I took the little black cocky chick "Alamo" and went to the beach! I had a bit of sushi for lunch and then it was time to relax under the palms...

                                                              Alamo loves the sun!

Makes me want to go island hopping.

After that it was time for a refreshing cocktail at C bar overlooking Magnetic Island. The water is crystal clear with a pretty low tide, sunny with a gentle breeze in the 70s...perfect.

With all of this nice weather I figured, why not go sailing?

So that's what I did! If you catch somebody at the Yacht
Club on Wednesday around five you can hitch a ride on a sailboat and race the regatta!

As the sunset dances across the horizon we pass another boat!

As night approaches the first star is visible, like we are sailing into the stars!

As we make the final turn and head back to Townsville the city alight welcomes us with it's familiar hills and most notably Castle Hill which is illuminated and glows orange.

Not a bad way to end the semester eh?

Days spent on the strand...

When I have a day off AND a day free of school I like to be able to go relax...
I find a trip into town with one of my birds or my dog to be the best way to do that. Townsville has several attractions but the one people enjoy the most is The Strand. If you click on the link there is a cool history of The Strand but in short, it's a beachfront walkway with activities and amenities like gas grills and water play parks and a rock pool swimming hole. There's the surf lifesaving club that not only helps monitor the beaches for everything from sharks to stingers (potentially lethal box jellyfish) or even crocodiles but also puts on open mic night and other fun events. There is a full moon drum circle every month and heaps of other activities.

I often enjoy the little cafes, bars and restaurants that line the beach, offering you a nice meal and a cocktail or two with a gorgeous view!
Whether it's enjoying a fresh mojito

Or simply laying on the grass admiring the ocean

I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world so I might as well enjoy it! The following are pictures of some of my lazy days on the strand.

Soaking up the sun and then the sunset at the marina.

A mojito at Longboards, owned by an American who loves buffalo wings as much as I do.
